Your perfume can reveal a lot about you. However, making the fragrance last throughout the day, is indeed a challenging task. How you wear your perfume can be a reason why your fragrance is not lasting for long. Here are 5 Most Common Perfume Mistakes That We All Make. Try not to repeat them to keep smelling divine from dawn to dusk.

Mistake #1: Rubbing Your Wrists Together After Applying

This is perhaps the most common mistake that we all make. Don’t know how and why, but it comes naturally to rub the wrists together after applying the perfume. However, make sure you don’t repeat this mistake again as it seriously limits your scent’s staying power. If you are aware, any fragrance comprises of three notes: top note, middle note, and base note. The top notes, primarily fruits and citrus, burn off the most quickly, middle notes, usually floral, last a bit longer and the base notes, mainly resins and woods, last the longest. Therefore, when you rub your wrists together, the friction and heat created by the action burn through the top notes more quickly, lessening the lifespan of your fragrance.

Mistake #2: Spraying Only On Your Wrists

The trick for a long lasting perfume is to apply not just on your wrists but all pulse points and that includes your neck, ankles and even behind your knees. Not to forget, the most important pulse point, your heart. You can also spray on your clothes for a subtle result and spraying a little on your hairbrush will give your hair a lovely mild fragrance. However, don’t go overboard to fetch annoying looks from co-workers & passersby.

Mistake #3: Not Moisturizing Before Spraying The Perfume

Moisturizer creates a layer on your skin to make the perfume last longer. Try using a scentless or subtle moisturizer to avoid a clash of scents.

Mistake #4: You Store the Bottle Out On Your Vanity

Where do you store your perfumes? Experts say, you should store the fragrances in the refrigerator, if not, then at least in a dark, cool place to avoid damaging the fragrance.

Mistake #5: Buying A Perfume Without Trying Out On Your Own Body

The scent of a perfume depends upon the body chemistry. Therefore, the same perfume will have a different result on different people. So, don’t just run to buy a perfume which smells divine on your BFF. It may not smell the same.
